In Memoriam was the best book I read last year, hands down. I was completely blown away by it. And Fleishman in both its forms is superb - one of the best TV adaptations in recent years.
I think the 6- or 8-part miniseries really lends itself to novel adaptations - you get less of that "ugh, they left so much out, the book was SO much better" than you so with film versions.

I find the whole ‘early middle age nostalgia for the freedom of youth’ thing so interesting, and it was done really well in this.
